When I was a child, in our house was a telephone that was two pieces. The "Instrument's" base had a "cradle" to hold the handset, and "ready" the instrument for incoming "calls," and a crank handle.... We shared the line (_"A Party Line"_) with another family in our neighborhood.... It (The phone.) had it's own table, and it weighed about 10 to 12 pounds.

I'm glad   " they don't make em' like they used to.... "

" Smile!   You're on . . . . "                      . . . . My Cell Phone Camera!

Each of the two phones had a distinct ring so we could tell by listening to the ring which family the incoming call was for....

If we wanted to call out we'd pick up the "handset" and listen for a "dial tone." If the phone was in use by the other "party" member there was conversation. If the phone line was ready for use there was a continuous buzz, and if the line was "open" we heard nothing....

If we heard a buzz we'd crank the little crank handle on the phone and wait for the operator to "connect" us to whom ever we wanted to speak with....

This phone works anywhere in America.

Can you hear me now?

I wonder what my parents and grand parents would have thought about this Nokia 3220.

I shot these pictures with my phone! The lighting was "available light" without a "flash" (Street lights.) We were assembled on the sidewalk on the Fifth street entrance to the building.... The players appear to be blurred. They are, as a result of movement on their part.... The camera is a fixed focus digital camera with  a feature called "night Light mode." I "shot" these pictures between 9:00 and 10:00 PM. Tuesday, September 13, 2005.... Please enjoy.

On Thursday evening, October 20, 2005, WPVI TV Channel 6 sent their news van back to 4W5 Cafe to shoot another three hours of music. This time Lee Farber, Photo Journalist for ABC TV "Action News" recorded the Blues with nine world class virtuosos on the stage.... Here's the link to my cellphone photos of this event at this URL: https://jim19809.tripod.com/4W5_Cafe_WPVI_TV_4.10.20.05.html
